One-on-One Bike Coaching
One-on-One Bike Coaching

Want to get stronger on the bike? Have you been riding and riding but not really getting any faster? We can teach you workouts that your body will respond to. Brian offers one-on-one workouts for different abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced.

Advanced Riders

Are you turning 25+ mph laps on Fiesta Island? Cruising the Great Western Loop in under 2:10? Or riding 3 repeats of Palomar to celebrate your birthday? If not, Brian can definitely help you get faster.

He'll show you the types of intervals that will help you the most for the type of racing you're doing—ranging from lactate threshold to VO2 max and anaerobic intensities. We'll work on your pedaling efficiency, and help you get more aero to eke out every last bit of speed.

Plus you can add the option of riding with a power meter to quantify your power output. We'll put our PowerTap wheel and Garmin Edge computer on your bike (a 2 minute swap), and then give you the computer file and a written analysis afterward. It will identify your strengths and weaknesses, and also look at technique issues (e.g.: are you losing power at certain cadences?)

Intermediate Riders.

Most middle-of-pack riders need to learn hard intervals. You've put in a lot of miles and are comfortable on your bike climbing and in aero position. But you probably ride pretty much the same pace all the time. While this helps your endurance, it doesn't make you faster.

Brian will show you the hard intervals you need to break through to the next level. By learning intensity, you can actually ride fewer hours and still get faster. Yes, it's hard work; but he'll teach you the smart, effective and efficient way to do workouts.

Beginner Riders

Are you not really at ease on your bike? Do you not really know when to shift? What about safely riding in traffic, or with a group of other cyclists? Does going downhill fast scare you?

Brian is an extremely patient teacher, and can guide you through any or all of this. We'll take things one step at a time in a relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere. Plus he'll give you drills to practice on your own. One-on-one sessions are a great way to take the fear out of cycling and get you more comfortable on the road.

Workout Location

All workouts start on Mission Bay (easy access of the 5!) and either go to Fiesta Island or Mt. Soledad.
